ITAR and compliance

How to work with export-controlled parts on Jiga, and what changes when your account is set up for ITAR.

Jiga is an ITAR-registered company, so you can bring export-controlled work to the platform with confidence: your controlled data and parts stay inside the rules from upload through to delivery.

To work on export-controlled parts (ITAR or EAR), your account needs to be set up for ITAR before you upload those files.

How your controlled work is protected

An ITAR account keeps your controlled work inside the rules at every step, not just on Jiga's side:

  • Your files. Controlled files are stored in an ITAR-compliant AWS GovCloud environment, and only the verified US persons you designate can open them, protected by 2FA.
  • Your manufacturers. Only ITAR-registered, US-based manufacturers are ever shown to an ITAR account. Jiga verifies each one is licensed for ITAR work and does not use foreign nationals or unauthorized subcontractors.
  • Your sourcing. Everything on an ITAR account is manufactured and purchased in the US, including off-the-shelf parts and electronics.
  • Your standards. Jiga is ITAR-registered and handles EAR the same way, has completed a NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment, and is DFARS and NDAA Section 889 compliant.

If your account is ITAR-enabled

  • Your supplier location is set to USA only.
  • ITAR appears in your requirements.
  • Controlled work is handled in an ITAR-compliant environment.

If your account is not set up for it

  • Do not upload export-controlled files. If you try, you will see a warning, both on upload and if a drawing appears to contain controlled data.
  • To get set up, contact ops@jiga.io to enable EAR or ITAR.

FAQ

Is Jiga ITAR-compliant?

Yes, Jiga is ITAR-registered. Controlled files are handled only once your account is set up as ITAR, so enable it before uploading anything export-controlled.

How do I turn on ITAR handling?

Contact your account manager to set up EAR or ITAR on your account.

Will my controlled parts be made overseas?

No. With an ITAR-enabled account, manufacturers are US-only.

Who can access my files on my side?

Only the verified US persons you designate when your account is set up, and access is protected by 2FA.

Can Jiga handle classified data?

No. Jiga handles unclassified controlled data (CUI) only, not Confidential, Secret, or Top Secret material. Don't upload classified files.

Can I keep ITAR and commercial work in one account?

No. An ITAR account routes everything to ITAR suppliers. For non-ITAR or overseas work, use a separate account.

I saw an export-control warning. What does it mean?

This usually means you're uploading an export-controlled file into a non-ITAR account. Remove the file, or get your account enabled first.

Is sending ITAR files over email compliant?

No. Email isn’t a compliant method for transferring ITAR files. Please use only your ITAR-compliant account on the Jiga platform to send files that are subject to EAR/ITAR.
